Slippery Slugs! A new creation by our ProMESSionals!

When planning our sessions. I always try and make sure that there is a variety of activities to give our curious mess makers a range of different textures, ingredients, colours, dry and wet etc to explore all 5 senses. There are a lot of activities and ideas on the internet when searching Messy Play however since starting the business in August 2015 in Amsterdam I find myself feeling inspired and creating my own new exciting activities. Here we are!

What's Inside? Chinese Rice Cakes - Water and food colouring

The Chinese Rice Cakes need to be placed in a boiling pot for 10 minutes. Placed into a container with water and food colouring for extra sluggyness. I have added various toys to go with the theme of water, tools to stir, scoop and pick up.

The texture is sticky when out of water however slippery in water. You can see that the rice cake flops over when held but it does not break easily.

You can see in this video that our curious mess maker is exploring the texture and observing the movement of the slugs. Great assistance from the parents to encourage imaginative play.

Until our next MESSY creation!
